# How accurate are Verbatim's quotes?

Every Verbatim quote can be checked: it links to the second it was said and plays the publisher's own audio from there. The numbers below are counted live from the library: how many moments are kept, how many name a confirmed speaker, how many carry a number, and how many shows have been removed. Quotes are machine transcribed, so a word or name can be misheard; any reported error is corrected or removed.

## What we measure

- Moments kept from the last day, week and month
- Share of quotes where the speaker is confirmed by name
- Share of quotes that include a number the speaker said
- Shows removed at an owner's request, and open removal requests

## The Play-It Test

A quote counts only if anyone can play the second it came from.

- **Speaker**: Named when the episode confirms who spoke
- **Source**: The show, the episode and its date
- **Second**: Plays the publisher's audio from that moment
- **Fix**: Reported errors are corrected or removed

## What does a confirmed speaker mean?

A speaker is confirmed when the episode introduces that person by name as a speaker in its first five minutes. When it does not, the quote is shown as said on the show, without a name, rather than guessing. Quotes where someone is only talking about a person, rather than being that person, are not confirmed. That is why the share of confirmed speakers is lower than the share of quotes: Verbatim would rather leave a name out than put the wrong one in.

## How do I report an error?

Write to support@theartofservice.com with the link to the moment. Every row links to its second, so the check takes a minute. Errors are corrected or the row is removed. On Verbatim Advisory, a broken link or a wrong attribution means a refund of that brief.

## FAQ

### Are Verbatim quotes word for word?

They are the speaker's words as transcribed by machine, with filler words removed by the transcription, never rewritten. A word or name can be misheard, which is why every quote links to the second it was said and plays the publisher's own audio, so you can check it before you rely on it.

### How many speakers are confirmed?

The live figure is shown on this page. A speaker is confirmed only when the episode introduces that person by name in its first five minutes. Other quotes are labelled as said on the show, without a name. Verbatim leaves a name out rather than guessing.

### What happens when a quote is wrong?

Report it to support@theartofservice.com with the link and it is corrected or removed. For Verbatim Advisory, a broken link or a wrong attribution means a refund of that brief, as the terms say.

### Are sponsor reads included?

No. Sponsor reads and advertisements are removed before a moment is kept, so a quote is never an advert read by a host. Moments are ranked higher when the speaker is named, speaks first-hand and gives a number.

### How fresh is the library?

New episodes are transcribed and read every day. The numbers on this page are counted from the live library each time it loads, including how many moments were added in the last day and the last week.
