The Citation Weather Map

It treats each place an answer can come from as a region on a map, so a monthly check shows where your business is named, missing or described wrongly.

Six regions, one check mark each; the lines across them are the questions buyers ask, crossing every surface.

How do you run a monthly AI visibility check?

  1. Open Search Console's generative AI report. It shows impressions in AI Overviews and AI Mode, by page, country, device and date. It counts impressions only, not clicks, and sites with few AI impressions may not see it yet. These impressions are also inside the main Performance report, so never add the two together.
  2. Write five buyer questions. The ones a customer would type before choosing someone like you.
  3. Ask each assistant the same five. Note whether you are named, missing or described wrongly, and who is named instead.
  4. Check spoken mentions. Verbatim Pro alerts you the morning after your name, or a competitor's, is said on a podcast.
  5. Compare month on month. Count, don't guess: named, missing and misdescribed, per surface.

The Citation Weather Map is the sheet for step 3.

Why do podcasts belong on the map?

What people say out loud this week is often not in the text that AI models learned from, and it is where founders, buyers and operators name the businesses they rate. A mention on a show is a signal you can act on: thank the host, quote it, or answer it. Verbatim Pro's Brand Mention Watch puts your brand and three competitors on a 25-name watchlist in one step, and every alert carries the quote and a link to the second.

Frequently asked questions

How do I see AI impressions in Search Console?

Use Search Console's generative AI performance report. It shows impressions in AI Overviews and AI Mode by page, country, device and date, but not clicks. Sites with few AI impressions may not see it. The free Verbatim AI Visibility Check explains how to read it alongside a monthly check of chat assistants.

How do I know if ChatGPT recommends my business?

Ask it, the way a buyer would, and write down the answer. Use the same five buyer questions each month, and note whether you are named, missing or described wrongly. The free Verbatim AI Visibility Check gives you the sheet; there is no complete public report of chat answers.

What is share of voice in AI search?

How often your business is named in AI answers to buyer questions, compared with competitors. Count it by hand: same questions, same assistants, each month. The free Verbatim AI Visibility Check sets out the method, and Verbatim Pro tracks the spoken side on podcasts for USD 29 a month.

How do I track brand mentions on podcasts?

With a watchlist. Verbatim Pro, USD 29 a month, includes Brand Mention Watch: your brand and three competitors on a 25-name watchlist in one step, and an alert the morning after any of them is said on 900+ business and technology podcasts, with the quote and a link to the second.

Does llms.txt help AI find my site?

It is a low-cost file that lists your key pages in plain text for AI tools, and Verbatim publishes one. No major AI search provider has said it uses llms.txt for ranking, so treat it as a tidy extra. The free Verbatim AI Visibility Check focuses on what you can measure.

How much does Verbatim Pro cost?

Verbatim Pro is USD 29 a month, or USD 348 a year billed once, cancel any time. It includes up to 50 topics, a 25-name watchlist with Brand Mention Watch, next-morning alerts, 30 days of search and CSV export. The Verbatim Free plan, with a Monday brief on three topics, costs nothing.

How often should I check AI visibility?

Monthly is enough for most businesses: AI answers shift, but not daily in ways you can act on. Run the same questions each month and compare. The free Verbatim AI Visibility Check suggests a fixed day; Verbatim Pro alerts on podcast mentions every morning, so the spoken side needs no schedule.
